Dino Hunter

Here's a page I posted awhile back all shiny and pretty on the pages of last fall's Create: Families. Mr K was quite excited to see himself in print. And as a matter of fact, so was I :)

This page was created with my very favorite kit from Lucky Girl Crafts - "A Boy & His Toys." I can't believe there are still a few kits left and your jaw will drop at the price. Seriously.

Have a lovely evening!

First Taste of Summer - Sketchabilities #52

Good morning! Today is the reveal for sketch #52 at Sketchabilities! I really enjoyed working with this sketch because I almost always use 3 photos on my pages. Plus love all the opportunities for layering! These photos are from our first beach trip at the start of the hot season - that trip is always the thing that signifies that summer is really here to stay! (Not that I am a big summer girl, much too hot and humid around here for my taste, but the kids do enjoy it.) The twins are really taking to the water - learning to dunk their heads, going in up to their chests and practicing kicking their arms and legs. I am certain they will be swimming on their own by the time next summer rolls around.

For this page, I used up the rest of my July Lucky Girl Crafts kit, Beach Babes with lots of fun, summer colors and releases from Echo Park and Bo Bunny. Also added a few Prima jewels to represent the waves - love those jewels, but am never quite sure how to use them.

Hope you'll take a moment to play along with the sketch and link it up right here!

Hullabaloo - Lucky Girl Crafts June Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Lucky Girl Crafts blog hop! Today we are celebrating June's new kit, Hullabaloo! It's packed full of color and fun and is perfect for all your summer pages and more! Did you come here from the Lucky Girl blog? If not, that's okay, just start back there and be sure to leave a comment on each stop for the chance to win a great prize!

Here are the projects I made with the kit:

Such a fun shot of Miss Leah - she is such a pretty girl. Can't believe how grown up she is getting! Of course I had to focus on the rainbow elements in the kit here!

Here are some fun moments from our Memorial weekend camping trip, taken with my hubby's phone. This is the first page I created with the kit, starting with the photo strip. Love that strip - my very favorite element in the kit. Well except for those Thickers and the twine, er the buttons too!

And yet another page using a red background! I just kept adding hearts and little bits of this and that in the cluster up top. We no longer see one another every day or even talk on the phone for that matter and it's really made me realize how much I miss spending every day with the old man.

Did you know that this month is Lucky Girls 1st birthday? To celebrate, Jessica is having a gigantic sale!

Spring Soiree - a Lucky Girl blog hop

Happy Sunday everyone! The weather has been beautiful here and it is finally starting to feel like spring! Seems like a great day to celebrate the latest and greatest kit from Lucky Girl Crafts - Spring Soiree - with a blog hop!! You may have arrived here from Stacy's blog, but if not, just head back to the LGC store blog and be sure to leave some love along the way!

In addition to the grand prize awarded on the store blog - $25 in Lucky Bucks - one lucky hopper will win a $10 Lucky Buck prize - and we don't know whose blog will have it!

After a long and dreary winter, celebrate spring in style with bold prints and bright colors! Products from your favorite manufacturers are gathered to bring a funky and ecclectic take on the season, perfect for showcasing your precious Easter memories, Mother's Day treats, graduation gifts and many other milestones!

(Click here to see more close-ups of the kit contents, and to order your own of course!!)

I really loved working with the vibrant, modern pieces in this kit from Pink Paislee and American Crafts mixed with the antique-distressed elements from Glitz. And with all the glittery goodness, it's like half the work has been done for you! Lots of glitter makes everything better!!

Here's a look at the projects I created with May's kit:

First up (and my personal fave) is a page about my little niece and her sweet chubby cheeks. There is just something about neon against black that looks so right!

A spritz of mist and a little handstitching complement the papers so well!

Ooh and that yellow PP paper - will definitely be hoarding that one!

Next up is a page about my little sis and her adorable little baby bump. As is worked out, the glittery AC cardstock was the same color as her shirt and made a lovely background.

I used the chipboard frames to house the journaling and some other info about her shower. It's great that using a word processor in 100% view, you can just hold the frame up to the computer screen and position your text so it fits perfectly in the small space!

Another vibrant page that makes me smile with pics from my dad's 55th birthday. We were lucky enough to be in town to celebrate and of course Rora got to help blow out the candles.

Love, love, love the celebration banner - those flowers so remind me of Liberty of London!!

Have been wanting to use a bunch of random letters on a page forever and somehow it just worked out here.

Plus one tiny birthday banner :)

And since Mother's Day is sneaking up around the corner, I put together 2 cards - one for my Mom and one for my MIL. Love the texture the tulle adds in ruffle and flower form.

So do you just have to have it? Good news - May 1-7, Lucky Girl is running a special:

Just in time to celebrate Mother's Day & National Scrapbook Month,
new annual subscriptions purchased during the Blog Party will only be

$25/month!
In addition to guaranteeing that you get your hands on the latest & greatest Lucky Girl Crafts kit each month, subscribers also receive a special bonus kit valued at $25 at the end of their one-year term.
What are you waiting for?! http://www.luckygirlcrafts.com/
You can choose from the monthly or pre-paid billing options for this great deal - no code needed!

Sounds like a great deal to me! Hop on over to the lovely and talented RUTH for lots more inspiration using this month's kit!

XOXO Challenge #18 - Adventurous Christmas

Ohmygoodness I've been out of town a whole week and am so behind on so many things! But it was so wonderful to spend time with my family, beautiful friends with perfect hair and to put together my sister's baby shower (photos for that coming soon...).

While I was gone, the newest challenge at XOXO girls went up and there are 21 new pages from the lovely Lipstick Chicks for you to scraplift and be inspired by. Here is mine:

I hadn't done anything with our Christmas photos but pulled them out to create this page using an SC sunday sketch from Lisa Truesdell. Love the way she frames the page with patterned paper. Most everything on this page came from leftovers from my March and April Lucky Girl kits.

We never get many good pics in the excitement of Christmas morning but I'll always remember last year because the kids woke us up early to say that Santa had come and they were just so happy. Best Christmas yet.

Link up your creations to the XOXO blog by Saturday, April 30th for a chance to win a great prize from Candy Shoppe Designs!

Welcome To The Party!!

The Lucky Girl Crafts blog party that is! Thank you for joining us! Today we are doing a little blog hoppin to celebrate April's fabulous new kit - A Boy & His Toys. It's stuffed to the brim with lots of new releases from Crate Paper, My Mind's Eye, Echo Park and more and is perfect for all your masculine pages!

Our April kits are FLYING off the shelf, so be sure to order yours ASAP before they're gone!
For international orders, please contact Jessica by e-mailing your order to jasafras98@yahoo.com.

Now onto the projects!

First is a page about my step-son and his imaginary dino bone hunting quest. You might not see it but that big stick his is holding above his head is actually a T-Rex bone! Can you believe it?! He was quite proud and was showing it to everyone at the park. What a lovely imagination.
I love how well the colors in the different lines coordinate! I also used my mist from last month's kit to mask off some stars from the Bo Bunny paper as well as some white from my stash. Oh and the leashed dino - so fun!

Also made a card using many of the same elements as the Dino layout. Just saying "Hi" on the front of the card makes it is versatile don't you think?

The next page is about my husband's new business venture into scrap metal (we're both scrappers now - hee haw!) with a picture of the gigantic 20-foot trailer he bought and is so proud of. I cut out a few little aliens from the Bo Bunny paper combined with some of the Crate elements to go with the new frontier theme.

Using some of the journaling cards and cardstock stickers, I made a little book to house all the things I had to say to my hubby about how proud I am of him.

And finally, another attempt at a 2-pager using some pics from the Winterset Park playground and little bits of this and that. There is no better way to entertain an energetic little boy.

I knew when I saw the blocks paper that I wanted to cut some words out of it or maybe make a block tower but ended up with a banner for the title that is one of my fav elements on this page. And what would a page about outdoor fun be without a sun and a few clouds?

To keep with the play theme, I used the bungee cord inside a chipboard frame to make a sort of interactive toy. Well, the kind of toy you'd use if you were bored, like pushing the middle of a Snapple lid up and down.

One more corner full of goodies to tie it all together (and fill up the space - 12x24 is a lot of blank canvas for me!)

So do you like what you see? Lucky Girl is giving away $25 lucky bucks to one lucky winner - all you have to do is leave a comment on the Lucky Girl blog. For another chance to win, stop by any of the Lucky Girl DT's blog and leave a little love for a chance to win $10 to the LGC store! It's a surprise so you'll have to stop by each of the blogs cause even we don't know where the winner will be picked from.

Sabrina (you are here!)
and of course our senior DT

Check the other girl's out and have a very playful day! It's Friday!!!

March 14, 2011

Monday, Monday

So I have been MIA for the last week and have felt a little guilty about neglecting this blog and all my online stuff really - but not that guilty. The weather is getting nicer here and the kids and I have been away from the house, spring cleaning fever has hit me and also I've been working on projects for the twins' birthday and my sister's upcoming baby shower. Mostly stuff I can't share just yet.

I finished this mini album for my sister last week. You can see the rest of the details up on the Lucky Girl blog here - it is the Friday Fun Day project. You can use it or any of the other inspirational projects created by the Lucky Girls for a chance to win April's kit - A Boy and His Toys. Believe me, we just saw the contents of this kit last week and you are not going to want to miss it!

I also created one final project with the leftovers of my March Lucky Girl kit, Homemade Happiness. There are just a few left in the store and boy does this kit go a long way! Love this picture of the girl's kissing their brother, he was quite unhappy about it and that makes it even cuter. I used a PageMaps sketch for the design.

The newest challenge also went up last week at XOXO girls week - you can enter it here. There are 16 pages to choose from and all you have to do to enter is scraplift one or more for a chance to win an awesome prize from our sister site, Candy Shoppe Designs. I love these photos of my stepdaughter and MIL from last fall - they just look so happy together!

Hmm, let's see... here is my photo for Project 52 from last week. Taking all these photos of myself is starting to feel a bit narcissistic so I'm considering abandoning but am not sure. Maybe I'll just compile all the pics in an About Me album. My daughter might appreciate that someday.

Last is a page made using the weekly challenge at Studio Calico to use scraps. All the little bits on my desk went onto this page and now it is clean! Sadly I am really behind and this challenge ended on the 7th! I thought it was last weeks! Not my usual style, but I really really like how it turned out. It reminds me of my talented friend Michelle.

Well that's about it. I'll be around again this week but I have a feeling the nice weather will be making posts more sporadic. Later alligator.

LGC Blog Party: Day 2

Thanks for joining us for day two of the Lucky Girl Crafts blog party! I am so excited to share the details of the latest kit with you this morning and I just know you're going to love it!! This month we're celebrating this amazing kit:

Our latest kit is s packed full with brand spankin' new Echo Park along with fabulous finds from American Crafts, Imaginesce, Coredinations, K&Co., Prima & more! And when I say 'packed', I really mean jam-packed to the brim, overflowing with crafty awesomeness.

Because this kit has a vintage-y feel to it, I immediately knew I wanted to use the papers to make an old quilt. I love collecting them of course because of the pretty fabrics but also because I know all the hard work and time that someone spent making it. Also inspired by the EP paper from yesterday, I used my postage stamp punch to create a border around the quilt.

I used a sandblock on the background to give it even more of an old look and recycled the Prima packaging as a title block.

Join us each day of the blog party (March 1, 2 & 3) to take a peek at the projects the Lucky Girl DT has created with this month's kit. We'll also be giving away prizes to a few LUCKY GIRLS - are you one of them? Read on to find out how you can win!

Lucky Girl Crafts blog party: Day 1

Thanks for joining us for the Lucky Girl Crafts blog party!

Here's a project I created using lots of little bits from everything - love those K&Co die cuts! It's my daughter and the other girls in her dance class practicing for their upcoming recital. They have been working on the recital song for several months and we recently had a preview during "watch night." So stinkin cute!

When I pulled everything out to fondle and saw the butterflies and the vase I just knew to use them together. I imagine they are dusty old moths flying out of a pretty antique vase at a flea market. Of course that doesn't really work with the page theme, but it's what popped into my head :o)

Anywhoo, join us each day of the blog party (March 1, 2 & 3) to take a peek at the projects the Lucky Girl DT has created with this month's kit. We'll also be giving away prizes to a few LUCKY GIRLS - are you one of them? Read on to find out how you can win!

I'll go first - letting one rip (and a huge *one* at that) during basketball practice and getting sent to the bench because our coach was so disgusted. hangs head in shame.
