I ♥ being a girl.

But sometimes being a girl is torture, don't you agree? This layout was created for the Sep 15 #43 challenge over at Gutter Girlz which I just may have missed - they have a new one posted already today.

THE PROMPT: Torturing Myself
THE SONG: Like it Rough by Lady Gaga
PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE: Rope

When I first saw this challenge it made me wince but then immediately realized that I and many other ladies torture ourselves on a daily basis all for the sake of vanity. And it must say, it's totally worth it.

The journaling reads "High heels, hot iron, shaving, waxing, bleaching. Just a touch of all the hard work that goes into being a girl."

If I may draw your attention to the pink feather on the page, there is a funny story behind it. My husband, his family and I visited the Omaha Zoo a few summers back. We were there all day, I was pregnant, it was hot and I was so so tired. Our final stop was in aviary, just before closing time. To cheer me up and to get an awesome souvenir, my husband jumped down into the flamingo area to scoop up a couple of pretty pink feathers. Of course it sent the birds into a tither (the poor things) but he didn't get caught and the feather lends a touch of exotica which seems appropriate for the subject of this layout.

Also added a bit of stitching and misting to fill that empty upper right hand space without overwhelming the already busy page. Was so happy to use some new products I picked up in a swap with a nice girl from Studio Calico. Used on this page are the tiny pink ledger alpha, black acrylic die-cut, "wild" chipboard, and the chipboard flower. Thank you MandyK for the excellent trade!

And thanks GutterGirlz for taking me outside my normal realm of scrapping. xo
