I received the 3-D Scoreboard Vase and since Halloween is only a few weeks away, I chose to create a spooky tablescape to get in the spirit.

This die really is versatile! I was able to create a variety of containers with different materials to hold lots of Halloween treats by using the die-cut shape as intended and by altering it just a bit.

First I cut the die from Matboard (you can purchase through Sizzix) which is a very cool material that really shows the full potential of this die. It scores halfway through the matboard allowing the vase to curve nicely and also gives a nice dimension to your project.

Next, I colored in every other score using Colorbox Pigment Ink in Silver and a Stylus, added some pipe cleaners as spider legs through the bottom of the vase and topped it off with a label and a little bling. It is easiest to add the legs before you secure the bottom.

The second container also utilizes the matboard - I cut 2 of the vases and connected them together with tape. This container does not have a bottom (although you could make one) so I layered several squares of tulle to hold the candy and to add some more texture to the display. To decorate the vase, I heat embossed the tree stamp and created a resist by running the Colorbox Pigment Stamp Pad in Spooktacular along the entire length of the vase.

The next container is also full size but cut from cardstock. It is not thick enough to reach the scoring blades on the die but you can always score by hand if you want the lines. I used a Rollagraph stamp on the background and dipped the edges in Black Velvet Smooch Spritz mixed with water to get the drippy ink effect. The label is also stamped from the Spooktacular ink pad and heat embossed with a clear, opalescent color.

To create these cupcake wrappers, I cut the die from cardstock and then cut them in half. Just make sure you trace the bottom arc of the die to ensure a rounded bottom. The background is a heat embossed spider web and the edges are Glue Glossed and dipped in Charcoal glitter. I used the Spooktacular stamp pad again to stamp the sentiment and then secured the label with a string of twine.

And finally, I decorated a plain glass vase by cutting several sheets of felt with the die and layering them upon one another to create grass hills and then filling it in with little gravestones and ghosts. The felt is tied on with tulle and will be easy to remove when Halloween is over so the glass vase can be reused.

Every Tuesday and Thursday between September 27-November 3, 2011 there will be a new Sizzix Fresh Vintage die featured on 6-10 of the 75 participating designers' blogscurrent die is, since those buttons are programmed to navigate only to the blogs that are participating for that die.
